Best Parks in Vienna for your Dog

Dog Parks in Vienna
Bringing your dog to Vienna? Excellent choice. This city knows how to treat four-legged guests.

Vienna is packed with beautiful parks where your pup can stretch their legs, sniff like a local, and live their best city-dog life right alongside you. Many parks even have dedicated dog zones (Hundezonen), basically VIP lounges for dogs.

You will spot them easily thanks to the white and green signs with a black dog icon. Inside these zones, it is pure freedom. No leash. No muzzle. Just happy zoomies, wagging tails, and relaxed humans on the sidelines.

Vienna strolls hit different when your dog is having just as much fun as you are.

Prater Dog Zone
The dog zone at Vienna’s Prater is the biggest in the city, stretching across nearly 300,000 m² of pure doggy freedom.

Think wide meadows, long forest paths, and endless space to sniff, sprint, and explore. Getting there is easy. Take the U2 to Krieau, then walk toward the Vienna University of Economics and the Exhibition Center.

One thing to know before you go: this area is not fenced, and it is very lively. Joggers, walkers, and cyclists pass through regularly. If your dog prefers a calmer crowd or gets excited around runners and bikes, keep a close eye and plan accordingly.

Hadikpark & Auer-Welsbach-Park
These two parks sit between the U4 stations Hietzing and Schönbrunn, and because they are so close to each other, they make a perfect duo for a long, relaxed walk with your dog.

Hadikpark is long and narrow, which makes it ideal for jogging or a steady run with your pup. It is also fully fenced, so you can relax a little more. Auer-Welsbach-Park, on the other hand, is not fenced, but it charms with a lovely open meadow right in the center. It is a great spot to sit down, soak up the atmosphere, and watch the dogs play.

Bonus for thirsty explorers: both parks are equipped with water dispensers for dogs.

Angelibad-Park
If your dog is a true water lover, this park will feel like paradise.
Located right on the Old Danube, it is especially popular in summer when paws head straight for the water. The park is fully fenced and even has its own little beach, perfect for swimming, splashing, and post-dip zoomies.

Getting there is easy. Take the U6 to Neue Donau, then enjoy a short five-minute walk toward the Old Danube.

Of course, Vienna has plenty more dog-friendly parks beyond the big names. If you are exploring the first district, where most of the city’s top sights are, you will also find a few smaller parks where dogs can run free. Look for the small park at Karlsplatz next to the stunning Karlskirche, or the one along the canal between Schottenring and Schwedenplatz (Franz-Josefs-Kai).

Of course, there are many more parks scattered all across Vienna, from quiet neighborhood green spaces to larger areas perfect for long walks and playtime.

No matter which district you are staying in, chances are high that a dog-friendly park or Hundezone is just around the corner. Some are lively and social, others calm and leafy, ideal for a slow stroll or a quick break between sightseeing stops. Vienna makes it easy to mix city life with fresh air, so you and your dog can discover new corners together, one park at a time. You can find a list of all dog zones in Vienna on the website Hundeparks.

We hope you and your dog have a wonderful time in Vienna!
