Experience culinary history in the restaurant

At the Hotel Stefanie – Vienna's oldest hotel, established 1600

The Schick Hotels celebrate traditional, sophisticated Viennese cuisine at the restaurant "Stefanie" The "recipe" is easy to explain: top-quality regional products, any amount of Viennese charm and tasty delicacies with plenty of tradition behind them.

A "history lesson". But different.

Where does the word "Frittate" (pancake) come from? What was the Empress Elisabeth's favorite ice cream? And is "Backhuhn" (grilled chicken) a Viennese original? Guests at the elegant restaurant "Stefanie" will be able to find answers to questions of this kind. The menu not only offers the finest Viennese classics such as “Wiener Schnitzel” or “Alt-Wiener Tafelspitz” (traditional Viennese boiled beef rump), but also brief anecdotes which give the historical background to these long-established delicacies. "In our restaurant, guests can expect both a diverse selection of Viennese cuisine and to be carried off on a journey into the past", explains René Herzog, chef de cuisine at the restaurant "Stefanie". The “Alt-Wiener-Schmankerl-Reise” (“A Taste of Imperial Vienna”) is a particular favorite, a seven-course foray through the cuisines of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire. The culinary specialties are accompanied by choice local wines and a fine range of selected quality spirits that originate in Austria.

The peaceful garden in the hotel's courtyard also provides you with a pleasant atmosphere, an oasis of comfort and tranquility in the midst of the city's hustle and bustle. Cozy wicker and lounge furniture, terracotta flooring and olive trees give the place real character. An old tree and awnings offer shade on hot days, while two wells provide pleasant and relaxing ambient noise as well as a feel-good environment.

Specials: "A Taste of Imperial Vienna" – a culinary tour through the fomer Crownlands, Sunday Brunch – October to May, ZauberDelikatEssen – Magic Evenings in cooperation with Magischer Klub Wien, Dinner & Crime with Event Partner Austria, lunch buffet – Monday to Friday (except holidays).
